Read users have occasionally reported not being able to unmute themselves or turn their video on if they join a Zoom call after Read has joined and started recording. Normally, Zoom will pop up a notification that says "someone is recording this call", and everyone on the call will need to acknowledge/accept this dialog in order to enable their audio and video. We believe that there may be a bug with certain versions of the Zoom client that prevents this dialog from getting shown to some users, resulting in them not being able to turn their microphone or video on.
If you think this is happening to you, you should be able to confirm this by testing it out in a meeting without Read - have someone else join the call before you and start recording, and then see if you can enable your microphone or video after joining. If not, you've confirmed there is a bug with Zoom.
In this case, we would encourage you to:
- Reach out to Zoom Support to report the bug
- Try using Zoom a different way (e.g. join through your web browser rather than your desktop client, or join from a different device)
