Some Zoom meetings only let in participants who are signed in to Zoom. Read can still join these meetings if you’ve connected your Zoom account to Read.
Connect your Zoom account
Zoom now requires notetakers like Read to be authorized by a signed-in Zoom user. Connecting your Zoom account to Read authorizes Read and satisfies the host’s “Only authenticated users can join” restriction, so you don’t need to change that setting.
- Go to Integrations > Zoom in Read.
- Click Connect and sign in to your Zoom account.
- Join your meetings while signed in to that same Zoom account.
For more details, see Upcoming Changes to Zoom Meetings.
If Read still can’t join
If you’ve connected your Zoom account and still get the “Only authenticated users can join” error, check whether this setting is turned on in any of the places below.
-
Your user settings (meeting hosts)
- Sign in to Zoom and go to your profile settings.
- Select the Meeting tab.
- Scroll to Only authenticated meeting participants and webinar attendees can join meetings and webinars and make sure it’s turned off.
-
Your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) settings
These settings apply to meetings that use your Personal Meeting ID.- Open the Zoom app.
- Click the down arrow next to New Meeting, then select your PMI and click PMI Settings.
- Make sure Only authenticated users can join: Sign in to Zoom is turned off.
-
Individual meetings
The meeting creator can turn this setting on for a single meeting. When scheduling a meeting you want Read to record, make sure it isn’t checked. -
Your Zoom account or group settings (Zoom admins)
Your Zoom admin can turn this setting on for your whole account or group, and you won’t be able to see or change it. If you’ve checked the three places above and still get the error, ask your Zoom admin whether it’s turned on at the account or group level. They can follow Zoom’s instructions to check and change it.
If Read joins but your report shows a “Restricted Data” error, see How do I enable recording permissions in Zoom?
