Read creates pre-reads for eligible upcoming meetings to help you prepare. For the cases where Read doesn't generate a pre-read for you, the Prepare page shows a short message explaining why.
Reasons a pre-read wasn't generated
A meeting can have more than one reason for not having a pre-read. When that happens, you may see several reasons listed together. If one reason already explains everything, we'll show just that one.
| Reason | What it means: |
|---|---|
| You declined the meeting | Read skips meetings you've declined |
| You're the only invitee | No one else is on the event |
| The meeting doesn't have a video link | There's no Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams link on the event |
| Read isn't joining this meeting | Read wasn't invited to join this meeting |
| The meeting has too many participants | The meeting has more than 20 participants |
| You don't have enough meeting history yet | Read needs more of your past meetings to build a useful pre-read |
| Your calendar has too many events that day | This means you likely share a calendar with others, and Read can't deliver you a personal experience |
| We couldn't find the meeting details | The calendar event is missing or couldn't be read |
| Something went wrong | There is an error on our end |
Get a pre-read anyway
Even if a meeting isn't eligible for an automatic pre-read, you can still ask for one. Expand that meeting card on the Prepare page, and select Ask Read anyway. Read will generate a pre-read for you in the Ask Read side pane.
