Read offers a discounted version of our paid plans for students and teachers with a verified .edu email address. There are two different options:
-
EDU plan: $60/year (compare to Read Pro plan) includes:
- Unlimited meeting reports with automated note-taking and transcription
- Supports calls recorded via Zoom, Meet, and Teams
- Supports pushing reports to Slack and Teams chat, plus Readouts (email and messaging summaries)
-
EDU + Video plan: $100/year (compare to Read Enterprise plan) includes:
- Everything in the EDU plan, plus
- Audio & video playback, highlight reels, and the ability to download/share video
These plans provide Read at a heavily discounted rate (equivalent of $5/month for EDU vs $15/month for Pro), but come with a couple of limitations. Specifically, these plans are only available on an annual term and they do not support Workspaces or premium integrations (for CRMs and workflows like Hubspot, Salesforce, Zapier, and webhooks). The EDU and EDU + Video plans otherwise support all of the same features as the Pro or Enterprise plans respectively.
How to access the EDU plans
In order to be eligible for the EDU plans, you must sign up for Read using a .edu email address and ensure your email is verified.
- Create your account (or update your primary email) using a .edu email address.
- Read will send an email with a link that you must click to verify your address (unless you signed up with an SSO provider that automatically verifies your email address). If needed, you can resend the email from your account settings page.
- Once verified, you should see the EDU plans listed when upgrading from your Plan & Billing page
You can also learn more about the different plan offerings and sign up from read.ai/edu-pricing, or if you received an email or pop-up notifying you of your eligibility, through the link in that email or pop-up.
How long can I continue using the EDU plan?
You can continue to renew your EDU plan annually for as long as you are student or faculty at an institution of higher education. If you graduate or leave your position, you may continue using your plan through the end of the annual term. Read reserves the right to terminate any plans if it is determined that the user was not eligible at the time of purchase or renewal.
What are the pros and cons of the EDU plans?
The main advantage of the EDU plans is the significantly discounted price, compared to Read's other paid plans. Relative to a Free Read account, the EDU plan provides many benefits, including:
- Unlimited meeting reports vs 5/month with Free
- 4 hour maximum per-meeting recording duration vs 1 hour with Free
- Complementary monthly upload credits for file upload reports (100 for EDU / 200 for EDU + Video)
- Access to the For You page and Daily Read podcast
- Audio/video playback and highlight reels (EDU + Video only)
The primary limitations of the EDU plans are:
- Must subscribe annually (no monthly option)
- Can't create or belong to a Workspace
- Can't use premium integrations (no CRM or Workflow integrations like Hubspot or Zapier)
What happens if I join a Workspace?
Workspaces are only supported on the Read Pro, Enterprise, or Enterprise+ plan. If you accept an invitation to join someone else's Read Workspace, your plan will be replaced by whatever plan the Workspace is using. While you won't get charged for your EDU plan going forward, you also won't receive a refund for any unused time. This works the same as joining a Workspace from any account with a standalone paid license.
Can I sign up for an EDU plan if I'm currently on another paid plan?
You cannot downgrade from another paid plan to one of the EDU plans, even if otherwise eligible. Only users on a free plan or the free Enterprise trial can sign up for the EDU plans.
