You have several ways to control which meetings Read joins, from changing your default settings to removing Read during a meeting.
Adjust your auto-join preferences
To choose which meetings Read joins automatically, go to Account Settings > Meeting Recording.
Auto-Join Calendar Events
If this is on, choose which meetings Read joins:
- Which Calendar Events: All calendar events, or only Calendar events I’m hosting.
-
Who’s Invited: Any participants, or Internal participants only.
- Internal meetings are ones where every invited participant has the same email domain.
- This option is only available if your Read account uses a work email address, not a personal one like @gmail.com.
If Auto-Join Calendar Events is off, Read is off by default for all your meetings. Whatever your preferences are, you can always turn Read on or off for individual meetings or recurring series from your Calendar page.
Auto-Join Unscheduled Meetings
Turn this on or off to control whether Read joins Google Meet or Zoom meetings you start that aren’t on your calendar.
Note for Zoom: Read only joins Zoom meetings you’re in, signed in to the Zoom account you’ve connected to Read. See Upcoming Changes to Zoom Meetings.
Turn Read on or off for specific meetings
To turn Read on or off for specific meetings on your calendar:
- Go to your Calendar page. You’ll find it in the left-hand menu.
- Turn Add Read? on or off.
- For a recurring meeting, choose This meeting only or This and all future meetings in this series.
Even if you turn off Add Read?, other people in the meeting may have Read turned on from their own accounts. Check the meeting chat to see who invited Read. See How do I see who invited or added Read to my meetings?
Remove Read during a meeting
Any meeting participant can remove Read during a meeting. For all the ways to stop Read, see How to Turn Off Read AI. For step-by-step instructions for each platform, see How to remove Read from an ongoing meeting.
Delete your account
We’d hate to see you go, but you can delete your Read account at any time. See How do I delete my account?
Once you delete your account, Read can no longer join meetings from your account. If you turn off auto-join instead, Read only joins meetings when you invite it. If Read is still joining your meetings, someone else in the meeting invited it from their account. See Why is Read still joining my meetings after I told it to stop or if I deleted my account?
