Action Required: You will need to connect your Zoom account to Read in order to continue capturing your Zoom meetings.
What's changing?
Zoom requires every meeting bot, including Read, to be authorized by a signed-in Zoom user. See Zoom’s announcement.
This means Read can only join and record a Zoom meeting if:
- You’ve connected your Zoom account to Read, and
- You’re in the meeting, signed in to that same Zoom account.
You can’t send Read to a Zoom meeting on its own anymore. If you haven’t connected your Zoom account, Read can’t join any of your Zoom meetings.
Free Zoom accounts work too. You don’t need a paid Zoom account.
Am I already set up?
You may have already connected Zoom, either as a way to sign in to Read or as an integration. To check:
- Integration: Go to Integrations > Zoom. If Zoom shows as Active, you’re all set.
- Sign-in method: Go to your Profile & Account settings. If Zoom is listed under Sign-In Methods, you’re set up, but we still recommend connecting the integration too (see below).
If neither is set up, follow the steps below.
How to connect your Zoom account
Recommended: connect the Zoom integration
- Go to Integrations > Zoom.
- Click Connect.
- Sign in to Zoom and approve the connection.
Alternative: add Zoom as a sign-in method
You can also add Zoom on the Add Sign-In Method page. This alone doesn’t give you all the benefits of the integration listed below.
Benefits of connecting the Zoom integration
With the integration connected, Read can:
- Join meetings you host with permission to record already granted
- Join meetings hosted by others more reliably, because it:
- Meets the host’s “authenticated users only” setting
- Is less likely to need the host to admit it
Why is Zoom making this change?
Zoom’s new policy gives meeting hosts:
- More control over which AI meeting assistants can join their meetings
- More visibility into whose AI assistants are joining
