Read can't join Webex meetings, but you can still get reports for them by recording with the Read AI desktop app for Windows or Mac.
How it works
Read doesn't join Webex meetings as a participant. Instead, the desktop app records your computer's audio while you're in the meeting, both your microphone and the other participants. Read then creates a report with a transcript, summary, action items, and more.
How to record a Webex meeting
- Install the desktop app and sign in. See How to Use Read's Desktop App for Windows and Mac.
- Join your Webex meeting as usual.
- Click Record in the Read desktop app.
- Allow permissions the first time you record. The app needs access to your microphone and system audio.
- Stop recording when the meeting ends. Your report will appear on your Reports page once it's processed, usually within about 5–15 minutes. Longer meetings and busy periods can take longer. If your report still says "PROCESSING" after two hours, contact Read Support. See How long should it take for a report to finish processing?
Get consent first
Always make sure everyone in the meeting agrees to be recorded. The desktop app reminds you before each recording. It also gives you a disclosure message to paste into the Webex chat, which includes a link anyone can use to opt out and have the recording deleted.
What's included
Because the desktop app only records audio, Webex reports don't include:
- Video or video playback
- Coaching
- Participant-level deep dive metrics
The transcript, summary, action items, and key questions are all included.
Best practices
- Headphones: Make sure the right output device is selected both in your computer's sound settings and in Webex.
- Permissions: Check that the desktop app has permission to capture system audio.
- Audio devices: Don't switch audio devices during the meeting. It can interrupt the recording.
On your phone? The Read mobile app can't record a Webex call happening on the same phone, because Webex is already using the microphone. Use the desktop app instead. See Can I use Read's mobile app to record calls from my phone?
