You can upload audio and video files to Read to turn them into meeting reports. This is useful if Read didn’t record a meeting but you have a recording from somewhere else. Reports from uploaded files work a little differently from regular reports, so this article explains what to expect.
Tip: To record future meetings directly, including in-person meetings, use the Read AI desktop app. See How do I get started with Read?.
How to upload files
- Go to your Reports page.
-
Click Upload near the top right.
-
In the window that opens, click browse files, or drag and drop your files. You can upload several files at once.
- Make sure each file:
- Is an MP4 (video) or M4A (audio) file
- Is 5 GB or smaller
- Contains at least 50 words of speech. Read can’t create a report from shorter recordings.
- Your files start uploading automatically, but they won’t be processed until you click Generate Reports.
- (Optional) Click Edit next to a file name to set the meeting name, date, and time.
- Click Generate Reports. Processing can take up to 24 hours, depending on file size.
While your report is processing, it appears on the My meetings tab with a gray PROCESSING label. When it’s done, the report stays on the same tab.
If your report doesn’t appear, check the Incomplete tab. If something went wrong during processing, no credits are deducted and you can try uploading again. If the upload keeps failing, please contact Read Support.
Upload credits and pricing
Each minute of audio or video uses 1 upload credit.
Monthly credits by plan:
| Plan | Monthly upload credits |
|---|---|
| Free | None |
| Pro | 100 minutes |
| Enterprise | 200 minutes |
| Enterprise+ | 300 minutes |
Monthly credits reset at the start of each month and don’t carry over.
Buying more credits: Go to your Billing page and click Buy upload credits. Credits cost $20 per 500 minutes ($0.04 per minute). Credits you buy stay in your account until you use them.
Uploaded reports
Reports from uploaded files are a little different from reports of live meetings:
-
Uploaded reports have this label at the top:
- Speakers aren’t identified automatically. They show as “Speaker 1,” “Speaker 2,” and so on, but you can rename them.
- Coaching isn’t available.
- Read Score, Engagement, and Sentiment graphs and Standings aren’t included.
- Recommendations aren’t created.
Editing speaker names
When an uploaded report is first created, speakers show as “Speaker 1,” “Speaker 2,” and so on. To rename them, go to the Transcript section and click the person icon next to a speaker’s name.
Read suggests names based on your past meetings, or you can type any name. When you rename a speaker once, the name updates throughout the transcript.
