How to use Ask Read
Using Ask Read is easy, just type your question or prompt into the search bar and hit enter/return. You can find the search bar on the Search page, along the top of most pages on Read's web app, or in most of our apps and extensions:
You can ask a question using natural language, like "What issues came up in my meeting yesterday?" or even a more involved prompt like "Write a status update for my manager on the things I worked on last week." There's no limit to the number of searches or prompts you can submit.
If you want to narrow your query to ensure Ask Read is pulling from only the most relevant sources, you can use the filters above the search bar. There are options to filter by date, by source (both at the category level and for specific records), and whether the content was created by you or by others.
Sharing search results
If you get an answer from Ask Read that you want to share with others, you can either click on the copy button to copy the response to your clipboard, or you can click the share button to get a link that you can share with others:
No login to Read is required to view your share links, they are accessible to anyone with the URL. You can also click on Shared Searches in the top right to view all of your shared searches, and delete links if necessary.
Search history
Ask once, and revisit anytime. On the Ask Read page, your top 25 most recent searches will appear on your right-side panel. If you do not see it, click the icon at the top right to open the search history. On the left-hand navigation, your 3 most recent searches will appear under Ask Read. Click "All Search History" to go to the Ask Read History table to search prompts, delete prompts or rerun search.
Users can edit each entry in the Ask Read History by clicking the title of the entry. The changes will only be visible to the user who changed it. Users can now share the entire thread including one or more prompts and answers.
Users can rerun search history, delete each entry, all on Ask Read History page.
To turn on or off, or delete all search history, you can visit Account Settings > Ask Read
Click "Delete All Search History" button, a pop-up will ask for confirmation, click "Delete History" to delete your search history.
Workspace settings for Ask Read
Workspace admin can enable Ask Read and Search History for workspace members.
Go to Workspace Settings > Settings > Ask Read
The workspace admin can turn on or off Ask Read by changing the toggle.
The workspace admin can also turn on or off Search History. Turning this off will remove all access to past search sessions across your workspace.
Additionally, when both of these settings (Ask Read and Search History) are enabled, they can be enforced across the workspace or allow workspace members to turn it on or off. When the admin turn off Ask Read, it will automatically turn off Search History because the users have to be able to search in order to have search history.
Search History across the workspace can be deleted here. This delete action applies to all search history of all workspace members. Once deleted, the shared link to these searches will no longer work.

How it works
By leveraging our proprietary models, Free Agent capabilities, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, we bring relevant data from various sources into a unified search experience and then use advanced large language models to generate accurate, context-aware responses with citations.
Ask Read will only search the content that is available in your account, it does not have access to e.g. other content from people in your workspace unless they have shared it with you. Your search results will get more comprehensive the more integrations that you connect - look for the "Ask Read" label to see whether an integration is supported for this feature.
Also note that all for integrations which support both pushing and pulling content from and into Read, you have the option to disable the pulling of data into Read while still using the feature to push meeting notes from Read. For example this is the relevant setting in the HubSpot integration:
Ask Read also works with all of the different languages that Read supports. Ask Read will naturally return answers in the language you query it with, or you can even ask it to return answers in a completely different language.
