Each Read account is uniquely identified by a primary email address - think of it like your username for Read. It's what shows up on the bottom left of the menu when you're logged in to Read, underneath your name, and where you receive all of your communications from Read:
Changing your primary email
You can change your primary email address by going to your Account Settings > Profile & Account and clicking on the edit icon next to Primary email:
Add your new primary email and click Save:
However, you may see that the icon is disabled with a warning like this:
If so, then to change your primary email address, you just need to:
- Click "Add Password" right below
- You'll receive an email at your primary email address
- Follow the link in the email to create a password for your account
- Once you've created a password, your primary email "Update" button will be enabled
Verifying your email
After you update and click "Save Changes", you'll receive an email at the new address with a link to verify that it belongs to you. Your update will not be complete until you click that link.
Note that if you only care about using a different calendar for Read, you can do this without changing the primary email. Just go to Account Settings > Integrations, disconnect your current calendar and connect a different calendar instead.
Common issues
- Your primary email address must be unique to your Read account, so you can't change it to an address that's already used on another account. If you see an error like this, you may have unintentionally created multiple Read accounts.
- If your email address recently changed (outside of Read) and you're having trouble logging in to your original account, see My email address changed and now I can't log in to my original account.
