With Read's Jira integration, you can easily create new Jira issues straight from your meeting action items on Read. For anyone who uses Jira, this is a great way to help you keep track of and follow up on long-running tasks that could otherwise get buried in your Read meeting reports.
Jira is one of Read's premium integrations, meaning it's only available to users on the Pro, Enterprise, or Enterprise+ plans.
Connecting the integration
Like all other integrations, you can find and enable the connection with Jira from your Apps & Integrations page:
Simply click on the "Connect" button and you'll be sent to Atlassian to authorize. If you belong to a Read workspace, you may need to ask a workspace admin to enable the integration first before you can connect. They can do this by going to Manage Workspace > Settings > Integrations and toggling on Jira.
After clicking "Connect" on the Apps & Integrations page, you should see a screen like this listing the permissions Read requires for the integration to work, with an "Accept" button on the bottom - click that button:
And that's it - you should now see the listing show as "Active" with a disconnect button your Apps & Integrations page.
Using the integration
Once connected, you can start using the integration right away. Just go to your meeting report, hover over an action item, and click the Jira icon that shows up in the top right corner:
A dialog will then pop up, allowing you to fill in more details that will get written to the ticket. The action item text will be pre-filled in the Description, but you can edit it before submitting:
Note that Read will pull these fields dynamically from your Jira account, depending on the selected project and issue type, so yours will likely look slightly different from this screenshot. Also pay attention to any fields that are not marked as "optional", as you will need to specify some value for these in order to click "Create".
One nice feature of this integration is that Read will remember your previous selection for things like project and issue type, making it easier to create subsequent issues.
After clicking "Create", the issue will be created, and you'll see a notification in the bottom right of the screen with a link to view your new ticket on Jira:
The description in Jira will also automatically include a link back to the Read meeting report that it was created from.
