Integrating Read AI with Microsoft Teams unlocks powerful productivity features for your meetings and daily workflow. With the Teams integration, you can automatically receive meeting summaries, daily recaps of your chats and channels, and more, directly in your Teams application. By syncing your Teams content to Read AI, you also enable Readout topic reports and Ask Read, empowering your queries with all the knowledge from your Teams chats and channels.
This integration is available to all Read users with a work or school Microsoft account, including those on the Free plan.
Prerequisites
- Microsoft 365 or Teams Account: To use all features of the integration, you must use a work or school (not personal) Microsoft account. Personal Microsoft accounts (e.g., @outlook.com, @hotmail.com) can be connected but functionality will be limited.
- Read AI Account: Sign up for Read AI using Microsoft SSO or connect your Microsoft account after registration.
- Permissions: Some features may require approval by a Teams admin, especially for channel access
How to Connect to Microsoft Teams
You can connect your Read AI account to Microsoft Teams during the account creation process, or at any point later on from your Integrations page:
- Locate the Microsoft Teams integration and click Connect.
- Follow the prompts to sign in with your Microsoft credentials and grant the necessary permissions.
- You may see after connecting that admin approval is required to enable full functionality - specifically to grant access to your Teams channels.
- If so, Read AI will generate a link that you can give to an admin to approve (they do not need to have a Read AI account).
- Once approved, you'll have to confirm this from your Teams integration page to complete setup.
- Going forward, other users in your Teams tenant will be able to fully connect without going through this step.
- Once connected, you can configure Teams integration features directly from this page, including which channels to use for daily summaries and where to receive meeting reports.
You can also connect by installing the Read AI app in Microsoft Teams:
- Open Microsoft Teams and go to the Apps section.
- Search for “Read AI” or use the direct AppSource link.
- Click Get It Now and follow the prompts to add the app to Teams.
- Sign in with your Read AI account if prompted.
- Tip: You can pin the Read AI app to your Teams navigation for quick access.
- After connecting, you should still visit your Teams integration page to configure your channels and other settings.

Enabling and Configuring Teams Features
There are multiple different features available through the Teams integration, most of which can be configured from your Integrations page:
- Daily Summaries: Choose which Teams channels receive daily recaps of activity. You can opt to receive these as direct messages and/or sent to the channels that are being summarized. See Teams Daily Summaries for chat and channels for more details.
- Meeting Reports: Automatically receive Read AI meeting summaries in Teams after your meetings conclude, and/or get Pre-Reads delivered before your next recurring meeting. See this support article for more details.
- Live Meeting Dashboard: With the Read AI app for Teams, access real-time transcripts, summaries, and metrics during Teams meetings via the Read AI app sidebar. See Using Read's live meeting dashboard for more details.
- Ask Read: As long as your "Incorporate Teams Data into Read" setting is enabled, your Teams chat and channel messages will be used to help power Ask Read, allowing you to search and ask questions about your data with the power of AI. See this support article for more details.
Configure which notifications and reports you receive, and adjust other preferences at any time from the Integrations page.
Workspace Admin Controls
Read AI workspace admins have additional controls to manage how Teams integration features are used across the organization. From the workspace settings page in the "Integrations" section, admins can enable or disable the ability for users to push content to Teams, to sync Teams messages to Read AI, or to connect the Teams integration at all:
Using Read AI in Teams Meetings
There are multiple ways to add Read AI to your Teams meetings:
- The easiest way is to connect your calendar (e.g. Outlook or Google Calendar), allowing you to configure which meetings Read AI should join automatically.
- You can also manually add Read AI to a Teams meeting in progress, which is especially useful for last minute or ad hoc meetings. Note that this option doesn't allow reports to be automatically shared with participants or auto-synced with HubSpot or Salesforce.
- Whether Read AI auto-joins or is manually added, you can use the Read AI app for Teams to access the live meeting dashboard, with real-time transcripts, summaries, metrics, and other tools for managing your meeting reports.
After your meetings, summaries and action items are automatically posted to your selected Teams locations and available in your Read AI dashboard.
