Ask Read in Microsoft Teams is a free, convenient way to get answers without leaving Teams. Once it's set up, you can search, ask questions, and send prompts to Read AI, and get answers based on your meetings, any other integrations you've enabled for Ask Read, and (if you turn on Teams sync) your Teams messages.
Before you start
- To use all of the Teams integration's features, you need a work or school Microsoft account. Personal Microsoft accounts (for example, @outlook.com or @hotmail.com) can be connected, but functionality is limited.
- Your Microsoft admin may need to allow the Read AI app for your organization before you can install it, and some features may need a Teams admin's approval.
- If you're in a Workspace, your Workspace admin controls whether users can connect the Teams integration, push content to Teams, and sync Teams messages to Read AI.
How to set up
- Install the Read AI app for Teams. Use the Read AI app install link, or search for "Read AI" in Apps in Teams. See How to install Read's app for Teams for details.
-
Connect your Read account. So the app knows which Read user you are, you'll see a message asking you to connect when you install it. Click Connect.
-
Connect Push to Teams. If you haven't already turned on Read's Push to Teams integration, you'll be asked to do that next. Once it's connected, you'll get notifications from Read in Teams.
- (Optional) Include your Teams messages in answers. To have Ask Read use your Teams chat and channel messages, open the Microsoft Teams card on your Integrations page (under Messaging) and make sure the Incorporate Teams Data into Read setting is turned on. Without it, Ask Read only searches your meetings and other connected integrations.
How to use
That's it! Open the Read AI app in Teams and send it a message in the chat, just like you're chatting with a person. Read will reply with an answer. It may take a moment to process and respond to each message.
Tip: You can pin the Read AI app to your Teams navigation for quick access.
