If you’ve received an email from Read AI notifying you of an "new sign-in" to your account, it means we detected a login that doesn’t match your typical usage patterns. This is a security measure to help protect your account from unauthorized access.
Why did I receive an email about a "new sign-in" to my account?
Read AI sends you an email whenever we observe a login to your account from a new device or web browser we haven't seen you use before. This can also happen when browsing in a private mode, like Incognito for Google Chrome.
This can be a totally normal occurrence if you're switching devices or browsers, but can otherwise help detect when someone has gained unauthorized accesses to your account.
What Should You Do Next?
- Review the Login Details
- Check the date, time, device, location, and login method mentioned in the alert email.
- If you recognize this activity (e.g., you recently got a new phone or are traveling), no further action is needed.
- If You Don’t Recognize the Login
- Take note of which login method was used (email & password or one of our SSO options) - this method may have been compromised.
-
Reset your password for whichever login method was listed.
-
If email & password, you can reset this from your Account Settings with the "Reset Account Password" button:
- If one of the SSO methods, like Google or Microsoft, go to your account settings in that platform and follow the steps to reset your password there.
-
- Review the list of sign-in methods currently enabled on your account and remove any that you don't recognize or don't intend to use.
-
Log out of all sessions using the button under Account Settings > Advanced:
- Report Suspicious Activity
- If you use Read AI for your work, school, or as part of an organization, and you believe your account was compromised, we encourage you to reach out to your IT or security team to report the incident.
Additional Tips
- Never share your passwords with anyone.
- Don't reuse the same password across different applications.
- Use a password manager app to generate strong passwords and securely keep track of them.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for any SSO account that supports it.
- Be cautious of phishing emails or suspicious links.
- Regularly update your password and review security settings.
