You can connect Read AI and Slack in order to send your meeting notes to Slack and unlock other powerful features to boost productivity. This page provides an overview of these features, with links out to other pages for more details. These features are available to all Read AI users, including those on the free plan.
Read’s integration with Slack has two distinct options, which can both be enabled by connecting to Slack on the Integrations page.
Push to Slack
The Push to Slack integration allows you to send your meeting notes and other content from Read AI to Slack. To enable, go to your Integrations page, find the Push to Slack entry and click Connect. For more detailed instructions, see:
Automatic
Once connected, you'll see a few options to customize the content that will automatically get sent to Slack:
There are four different types of messages that can be turned on or off entirely from this page, with Manage links to further configure how these messages are sent:
-
Meeting Reports can be sent to one of three destination options via the Manage link:
- "Only me" — Read AI will send you a DM
- "People with access" — Read AI will send individual DMs to anyone who gets access to the report (which is typically people who were invited to the meeting). Note that this will only work for people who are in your Slack workspace.
- "Send to a channel" — Read AI will send all your notes to a specific channel of your choosing. You can only send to private channels that the Read AI bot/app has been added to.
- Meeting Pre-Reads have all the same options as Meeting Reports.
- Topic Readouts can only be sent to you in a DM, but via the Manage link you can control whether to be notified only for new topics, or also for updates to existing topics.
- Weekly Recaps can be turned on or off, but don't currently have any other options to configure.
Manual
In addition to the automatic sending, you can also manually send meeting notes and topic readouts to Slack. Just look for the Slack icon or a "Send via..." button in the top right corner of the report page. For more details, see:
Slack Sync to Read
The Slack Sync to Read integration allows users to search their Slack messages with Ask Read. To enable, go to your Integrations page, find the Slack Sync to Read entry and click Connect. This will only give Read AI access to the messages that you have access to in Slack. Read AI uses Slack's MCP server to search all of your messages in real time, without actually saving the messages to Read AI.
Once connected, you can search and ask questions about your Slack messages from the Ask Read page or the various search buttons that appear throughout Read's web, desktop, and mobile apps. You can also use the filters to restrict your sources to just Slack, or even specific Slack channels:
If you've connected Push to Slack, you can also Ask Read questions directly from the Read AI app in Slack. This gives you convenient access to a powerful, universal search engine and question answering bot that doesn't only reference your Slack messages, it also includes all of your meetings as well as other connected sources.
The Read AI app
Once you or anyone else in your Slack workspace has connected the Push to Slack integration, you'll be able to find the Read AI app in Slack. If you haven't connected Slack to your own Read AI account yet, you'll be prompted to do so when you go to the app, and once you have you'll see something like this:
The Home tab has a few key features:
- See any In Progress meetings that are currently being recorded by Read AI. If available, you'll find a button to open the live dashboard in your browser, giving you access live meeting transcription, metrics, and other tools.
- You can also find your Recent Meetings for easy access to view and share your meeting reports.
- At the bottom is a list of Upcoming Events, with convenient links to join the meeting or to "add Read" so that it will get recorded.
The Chat tab is where you go to ask questions of Ask Read, and the History tab is where you can see all of the previous messages Read AI sent you.
