Read AI does not create an account, join a meeting, send an email, or take any other action without permission from the account owner. If you have a Read AI account you don't remember creating, you most likely signed up to receive a meeting report from someone else who uses Read AI.
This article explains how that happens, why Read AI may then start joining your meetings, and how to change your settings or remove Read AI from your account.
How accounts usually get created
When someone uses Read AI in a meeting, depending on the settings they chose, Read AI may share a meeting summary with all attendees. Non-users receive an invitation to sign up so they can view the summary, which keeps the notes secure rather than emailing them out openly.
If you clicked through that invitation, that is when you created your account. You may have also connected your calendar at the same time. The sign-up flow is short, and some people complete it without remembering they did.
Why Read AI may then start joining your meetings
Once your account exists, Read AI may auto-join your meetings and send reports under your name, depending on the settings you selected during onboarding. During onboarding, each user picks whether Read AI:
- Joins every meeting on their calendar
- Joins only meetings they host
- Joins only meetings they manually invite it to
If you moved quickly through that step, the option that was selected may not be the one you would have picked on a careful read.
How to change your auto-join settings
To change which meetings Read AI joins:
- Open Account Settings
- Go to Meeting Recording
- Open Auto-Join Preferences
- Select the option you want
To change what gets sent to attendees after a meeting, adjust your sharing settings in the Report Sharing section of Account Settings.
If Read AI keeps appearing after you change your settings
If you have more than one email address, check whether a Read AI account was created on a different address by using our Account Lookup tool. A second active account can produce the behavior you thought you turned off on the first one.
How to remove Read AI
If you want Read AI off your account entirely, the following options are available in Account Settings:
- Turn off auto-join
- Disconnect your calendar and any other integrations
- Delete your account
If you delete your Read AI account, your data is deleted along with it.
