Below are some common questions about using Read AI in your meetings.
What happens when Read joins?
When Read joins, it's similar to when a participant joins the meeting:
- Your meeting host or someone else in the call may need to admit Read (this depends on the video conferencing platform's settings).
- On Zoom, Read can only join if you've connected your Zoom account and you're in the meeting, signed in to that same Zoom account (see Upcoming Changes to Zoom Meetings). Read will also request recording permission from the host and won't start recording unless it's approved (see How do I enable recording permissions in Zoom?).
- Depending on how Read joins and the meeting platform's settings, Read may post a message in the meeting chat letting participants know it's joining to take notes, along with chat controls.
- After the meeting, you'll receive a meeting recap email (if enabled), and you can review the meeting report on your Reports page. The report includes a summary, highlights, a transcript, and audio/video playback (Enterprise and Enterprise+ plans only).
How should I communicate with my meeting attendees when Read is on?
Start by explaining the what: We have rolled out Read AI, an AI-powered meeting assistant that works with our meetings.
And the why: The goal of Read is to improve the meeting experience at our organization. It provides meeting summaries, transcripts, playback, and highlights to help make our meetings more efficient and effective. We hope this tool will save us time and effort on note-taking and give us better-documented insights from our conversations.
Security and privacy: Rest assured that Read is a secure tool that complies with our privacy policies. If you're not comfortable with this setup, let us know and we'll either disable Read if everyone agrees, or provide you with a separate copy of the meeting notes if you choose to leave the meeting.
Does Read capture text in the video conference chat box?
No, Read AI does not capture meeting chat text at this time.
Review your account settings
Your name and email appear in the bottom left of your screen. Click them, then select Account Settings.
If any settings are grayed out or can't be changed, that's because of your Workspace's configuration. Contact a Workspace admin if you'd like them changed. We recommend browsing through all of the settings to get familiar with Read's options and features.
