When Read joins a meeting automatically, it names the report after the calendar event. When you add Read to a meeting manually, the report gets a generic title based on the platform, such as “Zoom Meeting,” “Teams Meeting,” or “Meet Meeting,” unless you name it yourself.
If your reports are getting generic titles when you expected them to use your calendar event titles, check the following:
- Connect and sync your calendar. Make sure the calendar your meetings are on is connected to Read. See How do I connect my calendar to Read?
- Check your auto-join preferences. Make sure Read is set to join the meetings you want automatically. See What meetings does Read join when I connect my calendar?
- Let Read join on its own. Read usually joins 3–5 minutes before the meeting starts. If you add it manually before then, it joins as a manual add and the report gets a generic title.
Avoiding a manual join by accident
Browser extension (Google Meet, Zoom, and Teams)
If the Read browser extension asks whether to add Read, don’t click Yes, Add Read for meetings Read is already set to join. Only use the extension when Read wasn’t already going to join, such as for meetings that aren’t on your Read Calendar page or for instant meetings.
When you do add Read with the extension, you can name the report at that time so it doesn’t get a generic title. See Using Read’s browser extension and How do I manually add Read to a live meeting?
Zoom
Read can only join a Zoom meeting if you’ve connected your Zoom account to Read and you’re in the meeting, signed in to that same Zoom account. See Upcoming Changes to Zoom Meetings.
If you use Read’s Zoom app, don’t open it to add Read when Read is already set to join. If you’re the host, opening the app adds Read manually. Also make sure Auto-open in meetings is turned off for the app.
Microsoft Teams
If you use Read’s Teams app, don’t add Read through the app for meetings Read is already set to join.
